Though I prefer fishing the male gobies (dark), the imature and female gobies also work great.
You would think that gobies would make an easy target for game fish; they look chunky and clumsy. However, compared to some of the other fish, they are very agile and wary. For example, the rainbow darters previous displayed on this site (now page 3), were much easier to approach and photograph than gobies. They are really, really fast.
They are also very manueverable with the abiltiy to swim almost directly up in the water collumn, especially around rocks.
